Background

The Ant Financial Global Local Team is responsible for the localization development of AliPay in the joint venture (JV) e-wallet companies established with local enterprises in "The Belt and Road Initiatives" countries. These JV e-wallet companies in each local country are referred to as sites. Designers at Alipay are assigned to handle the business of one or more sites. Depending on the financial infrastructure of each country, the capabilities of the JV company, and local culture, the responsibilities of a site leader include long-term onsite project empowerment with the JV e-wallet company, building payment capabilities, identifying payment scenario opportunities, developing local wallet operation strategies, team building, coordinating stakeholders, recruiting and training.

I have been assigned as the wallet leader for the newly established site in Pakistan. After evaluating the current team and business situation with key stakeholders from the Easypaisa wallet, we believe that before proceeding with the specific wallet capability building and payment scenario optimization, it is necessary to conduct comprehensive and systematic business training for the entire Pakistan product team. Aiming to help them understand Alipay's working methods and processes. To address their lack of experts in product, design, branding, and operations, I organized comprehensive and professional training(Design Hackathon). This Hackathon included design methodologies, research tools, design tools, case studies and hands-on existing features rebuild. Additionally, I provided an immersive experience of rich online and offline mobile payment scenarios to establish their clear vision and understanding.
